About NextStep Business Brokers

NextStep’s mission is to provide business owners with personalized, expert guidance as they prepare for the sale of their business.

Our roots lie in helping small, independently owned businesses navigate transactions with larger, more sophisticated buyers—engagements where strategic preparation, precise market positioning, and skilled representation made all the difference. Those experiences continue to shape our approach to every client partnership.

Our Expertise

We specialize in guiding owners through one of the most consequential decisions they’ll make: selling their business. While you bring deep expertise in operating your company, we bring the same level of professionalism and insight to selling it. Our structured process—from valuation and market preparation to buyer outreach, negotiation, and closing—is designed to simplify complexity, protect your interests, and deliver optimal results.

Kalvin Tang

Founder of NextStep, Business Intermediary

Kalvin brings years of experience to his role as a business intermediary. Having founded, operated, and sold his own businesses—and having been part of his family’s business, which his parents built and ran for nearly 30 years—he understands the commitment, grit, and perseverance it takes to be a business owner.

Kalvin has also held leadership roles in accounting and finance, where his attention to detail and analytical approach were key to guiding those businesses. What truly sets him apart, however, is his relationship-first mindset. He knows that entrepreneurs build their businesses over years, not days. In the same way, he believes that guiding clients through such a monumental transition should be rooted in trust and partnership—not treated as a mere transaction. Being present for his clients, listening to their goals and concerns, as well as providing transparency and follow-through are just as important to him as achieving a successful sale.

Kalvin has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Portland and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Montana. He is a member of the IBBA (International Business Brokers Association), a highly regarded professional organization in the field of business brokering, and also holds a real estate license in Montana.

As Montana native, Kalvin resides in his hometown of Billings with his wife, Kirsten, and their two daughters, Stevie and Reese. Outside of spending time with his family and taking care of clients, he enjoys the great outdoors—golfing, hitting the slopes after a fresh snowfall, and fly-fishing the beautiful trout streams of Montana and nearby Idaho and Wyoming.
